Dragon Tattoo Design

Good morning people. Here is the second of my featured Ohayocon commissions. This black and white drawing of an eastern dragon is a tattoo design. The person who hired me to do it plans to have something similar to this (in color, of course) inked at a later time. I really like the way this piece turned out and I may use it as the basis of a digital color piece later. This is one of a growing number of tattoo designs I've done; I've even had a chance to see some of the resulting tatoos, when customers have come back to show me how the finished pieces look.

WoW commission

Hello people. I've been talking about commissions for the last few posts. I put up a couple about pieces I completed at FC. Here's one about a commission I finished at Ohayocon. This was my first year at Ohayocon; I had a lot of fun and did quite a few commissions, among them this one. It is my very first commission based on a WoW character. I enjoyed doing it--especially that hat. For a zombie, this guy is a sharp dresser.

Latest iphone commissions

Good morning folks. Here are some more commissions that I finished at FC this year. It's a batch of digital color sketches that I did on my Iphone, using an app called Brushes. Thanks to the folks who commissioned these--very much appreciated! I am having a lot of fun doing these digitally painted character portraits and I am hoping to do more in the future. These images are posted in thumbnail format; click on them to see the larger versions.

Sketches on Proofs

Good Morning, everyone. We just had a lovely February thaw here in Michigan. Looking out the window this morning I thought to myself, 'What snow?" It's lovely to see green grass again. This line of thinking helped to get my blogging brain get up and running (that and the absolutely amazing cup of coffee Mark brought me--our order from Dean's Beans arrived!). Here's this week's second post.
JZ is a lovely customer who purchased some Magic the Gathering artist's proofs from me late last year, then hired me to add some sketches of them to the backs. For those of you not familiar with proofs, these are Magic cards with printing on the fronts but blank on their backs where the game title and logo would normally appear. WoTC very generously provided these to me when I was doing art for them. I have limited supplies of these cards--some more limited than others--and I am selling them as collectibles. Click on this link to learn more about my magic card proofs.

Here is the art I did for JZ's cards. The image is small so click on it if you want to see a larger image. Enjoy!

Nero Wolfe and Archie--Sort of!

Good afternoon. At FC this year, I received my first commission based on one of my favorite series of all time: Nero Wolfe by Rex Stout. For those of you who are not familiar with the oversized investigator and his personal assistant (hired to, among other things, badger his boss into working when he would rather not), you can find this series in audible form on Itunes and at Audible. Despite his name, Nero Wolfe is human; however when John 'The Gneech' Robey commissioned me to draw Nero and Archie as furry characters, I was delighted to do it. Many thanks to John, who is both a furry artist and an author. You can check out his stuff at Gneech.com.

Home from cons and resting up!

Hi there! it's been a couple of weeks since my last post. I attended two shows in a row and now I'm taking a week off to rest up before getting back to work. I hope to do a more complete post (or two) next week. in the meantime, I wanted to say thank you to all the lovely people at FC who stopped by my table to chat, browse and buy. I did quite a few commissions, including this piece for mpanthera. This one takes the concept of a vamp to a whole new place. fem fatale vbat
